Watch people coming and going
If you enter the Augustiner Keller via the main entrance, your first port of call will be the hall. It is the entrance area, is the main access point to all the rooms and is itself used as a guest room.
An unpretentious but lively space
Some guests love it here simply because they can watch people coming and going.
By the way ...
Until 1891, the hall was where the ‘beer ox’ used to do its work. Trotting around in circles, it transported the summer beer stored in the cellar to the surface via ropes and a winding mechanism. During its lifetime, the ox was a highlight for many locals who simply loved to watch it work. And you can understand why after consuming one, two or three litres, it must have become more and more amusing.
